Board of Stewards Role Description
Intent: To have a diverse group of community members who are actively advocating for the programand thinking about the big picture including program goals, accountability and director support.
Background: The original stewards were active in developing the program and initial agreements with the district.
The Board of Stewards are a group of committed volunteers who are empowered to perform or help perform the following roles within VISION HCP:
1. Nurture and grow integrity to the program mission, philosophy and principles. 2. Advocate for and facilitate advocacy for the program and its mission. 3. Facilitate program-wide learning and a sense of unity. 4. Ensure integrity to written program-wide agreements with outside entities. 5. Facilitate the hiring, support and evaluation of program directors. 6. Hear appeals and be the last step in due process.
Participation on the Board of Stewards is open to anybody in Delta County. It is not truly a representative board but people who want representation on the Board are encouraged and invited to participate. Ideally this would include young people, parents, educators, community members, and resource consultants who represent all VISION HCP communities.
