Dear Seniors,
Welcome and congratulations! You have arrived at the final stages of your high
school education. This next year is going to be busy for all of you, so I have tried to
organize things in a way that will carry you through without too many hang ups. Included with this letter is a copy of NF Vision’s Graduation Guidelines, a short explanation of the graduation process and some possibilities that lie ahead of you for the upcoming year, and the documents, with deadlines, that you will need throughout your senior year. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or comments, contact me at the office.
The first item is the Intent to Graduate form. This form is due, to me, in the office by Monday, August 29th. Part of the graduation process is meeting with a committee that will oversee your goals and progress for the year. This committee needs to be established in the very beginning of the year so that it may help you to determine how the graduation requirements (in the handbook) are going to be met. The first meeting of the committee needs to happen by Monday, November 14th. This is also the deadline for your written graduation plan, which will give you time to implement your plan throughout the rest of the year. You will need to have your graduation committee read over your graduation plan with you at your first committee meeting.
The next item is the Graduation Ceremony Participation form. This form is due in the office by Monday, April 2nd. All the participating seniors must have this form in by the deadline to participate in the North Fork VISION Graduation Ceremony. You may also turn in a senior photo at this time for the graduation page in the local paper, regardless of whether you plan to participate in the ceremony. Submitting a photo is not a requirement but, if you choose to, you must have it in by the deadline.
Finally, we have made it to May! At this time you need to be checking in with your graduation committee and making sure all of your graduation requirements have been fulfilled. Your committee members will sign off on a certificate that will verify that you have completed the NF Vision requirements and the requirements of your personal graduation plan to their satisfaction. You must also make sure that you do not have outstanding financial issues (outstanding purchase orders, unpaid invoices, durable or tangible materials purchased with Vision funding, etc.) Please make sure this is done before May 28th to ensure that you receive your diploma for the 2010-11 school year. For a start, that covers the graduation details☺. Please pay close attention to
the deadlines and feel free to contact me at our office with any questions. I look forward to watching the progress you will make in achieving your graduation goals during your senior year!
Sincerely,
Hattie Taylor
